I found Bread a better suitor because Jack doesn't deserve bread's affections. [For those who don't remember a certain post from the virus event, it is linked.]

It took a lot of hard searching and digging around since I'm sure he's very hard to replace. [Right. Okay then.]

But finally I have succeeded! [And Marco pulls back to reveal a loaf of bread and a stick of butter.] BEHOLD! A match made in heaven.

[So then using a butter knife he just puts butter all over that bread. Why not. And then he starts singing the wedding march. Afraid yet? You should be.]

[And then as he basks in the glow of a perfect romantic match; he opens his mouth up and eats them.] And now they'll be together forever.

You're asking about something that was so long ago I don't remember it at all. If anything, a lot of days when I was younger I didn't really fully realize I was human. I thought being human was just a disguise phoenixes could use to protect themselves.

[Tilts head.]

Is it bad to say that once I found out about you being a phoenix, I thought that was your true form?

No. I usually feel like it is. [And his tail is just out behind him again.]

Devil fruit users often do though. Some say the devil fruit takes over, but I think it's just the person most suited to that fruit feels called to it and vice versa. [Though his face falls a bit. Marco has few doubts that Blackbeard probably was best suited to Darkness, but all the more reason to hate him for it.]

Devil fruit? What is that exactly?

A curse. You eat one and you're stuck with a power for life and you'll never be able to swim again. You'll always be weak to ocean and sink in it.

Don't get me wrong, I love being a phoenix, but there's a reason it's called a curse. More troubles have been caused over them then any amount of gold.
