Last night I had a very strange dream. I was dressed in a female Beijing Opera costume and I was singing and dancing. Maybe I drank too much at the Lantern Festival, or something, aru.

[He pauses to drink some of his green tea, which was sitting in a teacup on the low table.]

By the way, what's this I keep hearing about memories? Are you saying the dream I had was actually a memory? [Guess who hasn't had any experiences yet.]

[OOC: Hey man, this is China. Anyone is free to view memories ranging from his (lonely) childhood, to his dynasties, the wars, present day, and the Christmas he spent with Stocking here in Discedo (since that's the first and only real memory he's recalled of Discedo so far).]

...This will be a random question, I know, but would you happen to know any locations where I would be able to find some decent gems on this planet, Marco? Things such as jade, gold, silver, diamonds, emeralds, or anything similar?

There should be mines somewhere. But your best bet is to try scavenging Spero... it just might take you forever. I didn't get a good look at any of the superfluous shops. [Pirate or not, Marco's interests in gems isn't big.] I know I had to look through the junkyard to find something suitable for a ring for Tatsumi. And then get Ace to smelt it, eh?

Spero, huh? I haven't been there once anyway, so this will be a good excuse to finally go over there. From the way people talk about it, it sounds as though it's still in decent shape, though barely, considering the lack of life.

It is. But there's not electricity or running water yet. We'd only started fixing the buildings before we said fuck it and sailed back to Discedo.

An actual ring, though I'm not sure if it was used for jewelry before or not. It just needed smelting.

Well, it would be too easy if they just gave all our resources to build. But that's what confuses me, if the scientists want us to revive this planet, why do they make it so hard for us to do so?

It is a test? Or is it all actually just a game to them?

I don't think they do want use to revive the planet. I just don't buy it. If they wanted that, picking destructive people would be the worst way possible. And sending home the people who try to fix things too.

I think Ace had it right. It's like an ant farm. Hypothetically they want to see what we make, but they get bored and shake it up every so often.

It's no wonder they kept sending me home and bringing me back from different times, not to mention toying with my memories, aru.

Right. Normal schadenfreude is just watching someone else fall and laughing at it and then maybe giving them a hand to help them up. Sadism is more like tripping them and then kicking them in the ribs.
