discedo | [Action/Video] 001

[If anyone was walking around Discedo, you'll probably spot a soldier standing against a building. That wouldn't be too unusual of a sight, except that this soldier had a giant red, white, and blue shield strapped to his back. He also didn't seem to be bothered by the rain, but he was also wearing a blue helmet with a giant A in the middle of it.

Anyway, there was a small frown on his face as he worked the communicator in his hands, obviously not used to this kind of technology. However, he'll get at least the basic video function working in a few minutes.]

Is... is this working? [Steve looked at the video feed with a somewhat confused expression. He was uncertain about using this thing in the first place, but with his enhanced abilities suddenly disappearing and the thought of the serum only being temporary because of that, he decided to use it. Besides, he wanted to find Bucky and the others as fast as possible. Sneaking around in this place didn't really get him anywhere.]

This is... Captain America. [He seemed a little awkward admitting that.] Does anyone the coordinates of our current location? Or a brief description will help as well.

It was something all right... [ He trails off, wondering if he should add anything, but shrugs and decides against it. The details are best left in the past. ]

Well, I didn't really leave it with her. It kinda just... wandered away. On its own. [ Yes his severed hand is sentient and he is not perturbed by this what of it. ] Guess it likes her or something!

As for this. [ He goes back to smirking. ] It's perfectly safe when it's off. When it's on? Hoo boy, no one better try and mess with me!

[...His hand moved on its own? A lot of people here have really unique skills.] Sir, if you don't mind me asking, but what abilities do you have?

Didn't know it was possible to attach a chainsaw to your arm. But as long as you're okay.

Not at all! [ It gives him a chance to brag. ]

First you gotta know that this place is kinda tricky for my kind. Embodiments of countries millions of light years away from their land and people? Pretty jarring. Back home we're something like immortal. Exact specifications for that get pretty complicated, but here, well, I dunno about the rest of 'em but I'm harder to kill than the average human, but I ain't exactly unkillable. Then there's some other weird stuff about being a country, blah blah, now let's move on to my rad skills!

I'm pretty strong, for one. Maybe as strong as you! I've been lifting buffalo since I was a toddler--uh, since the 1600s, whatever. When I was young and tiny. So I've got that! And this one time, this demon who took over my brother's body made me a stew outta my bro's polar bear, but guess what? I puked that little guy right back up alive and well. I can puke polar bears. And I'm sure I've got loads of other powers that are just waiting to be unlocked in dire circumstances! That's basically my greatest power and greatest responsibility: being America.

You know why I can have an operating chainsaw as a replacement hand?

Because freedom.

[America is going to get a blank stare for a while. Until it suddenly dawns on Steve as he processes the words in his mind. Although, even then, not everything made sense to him.]

Um, you're really the embodiment of the United States? [Steve has to tell himself that America is from a parallel Earth and it might be possible in that place. Or something.]

If you can believe it. If you can't... well, that'll just make half the things I say harder to understand.

...I believe you, America.

[ MUST... NOT... CRY IN FRONT OF HERO... ]

[ BREATHE BREATHE PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER AMERICA. YOU MUST BE COOL FOR STEVE ROGERS. YOU MUST AMAZING FOR CAPTAIN AMERICA.

Okay taking a few deep breaths. No matter how touched he is that Steve actually believes him when most people write him off as insane, he must not freak out again. ]

Thanks. Means a lot to me, Cap! I know it's kinda far out for people who aren't used to anthro... anthropolymore... uh, countries personified. But it's a big part of my identity, you know? So it's a relief when people actually believe it and accept it instead of writing of me off as some crazy guy who doesn't even know who he is.

[He's already met a talking skeleton and a ghost. Why not add personified countries to the list.]

Stranger things have happened. But I understand.

Oh I bet! I've read all the comics of you and some of your adventures man, they're far out!

...And I don't mean that in a creepy way! I mean. Yeah. Comics.

I haven't gone on those adventures in the comics. [He still really hasn't done anything and he's more disappointed in himself than anything else about that. The least he can do is be honest with America.]

[ He looks so sure and confident HE BELIEVES IN YOUUUUUU. plus c'mon doing nothing isn't as bad as some of the shit America's done. ]

[Even though America was a bit eccentric, Steve still appreciated that he believed in him.]

My main goal is to stop bullies. [And if that involves crazy adventures, then that's fine.]

[ You will stop all the bullies, America whispers into his communicator as he continues to stare at Captain America with adoration. And I will follow in your footsteps, he continues to whisper in the hushed, awed tone reserved primarily for stalkers. Of course Steve can clearly see this guy's lips moving, and since his hearing has probably been amplified too, he can probably hear everything America is saying. The content itself might be encouraging and inspiring, but the whole "whispering your adoration to yourself when said object of adoration can still hear you" thing is still pretty fucking creepy.

At least he doesn't watch you sleep. ~~Yet~~. ]

[Unfortunately, Steve couldn't hear him since his hearing has become average due to the chip still inside him. However, that doesn't stop him from feeling pretty awkward about America's hushed whispering. Maybe he should end the conversation and contact him when America is feeling better/gotten over his shock.]

You probably should rest, America.

[ Perfect. ]

You sure you'll be able to get here alright on your own? I-I mean, 'course you can 'cause you're Captain freaking America, but...

[ It feels weird asking if Cap needs help. ]

[He salutes.] I'll be fine, sir. Will you be alright?

[ Saluting back!!!!! ]
