discedo | [Action/Video] 001

[If anyone was walking around Discedo, you'll probably spot a soldier standing against a building. That wouldn't be too unusual of a sight, except that this soldier had a giant red, white, and blue shield strapped to his back. He also didn't seem to be bothered by the rain, but he was also wearing a blue helmet with a giant A in the middle of it.

Anyway, there was a small frown on his face as he worked the communicator in his hands, obviously not used to this kind of technology. However, he'll get at least the basic video function working in a few minutes.]

Is... is this working? [Steve looked at the video feed with a somewhat confused expression. He was uncertain about using this thing in the first place, but with his enhanced abilities suddenly disappearing and the thought of the serum only being temporary because of that, he decided to use it. Besides, he wanted to find Bucky and the others as fast as possible. Sneaking around in this place didn't really get him anywhere.]

This is... Captain America. [He seemed a little awkward admitting that.] Does anyone the coordinates of our current location? Or a brief description will help as well.

That's the big question. They're smart enough to keep any of us from finding out how to find them. Far as I know no one has ever found where they're hiding. And they've been doing this for years.

Nice to meet you. I'm Danny Phantom.

[That could be a problem, but he can't give up.] We can't stop trying.

Likewise, Mr. Phantom. [Small pause.] If you don't mind me asking, but how are you able to fly?

[He rolls his eyes.] Obviously. But it's become pretty clear this is going to be one of those adventures we're in for the long haul. For now most people here are working on surviving long enough to figure a way out of here.

Simple. I'm a ghost. Hence the glowing and floating and flying.

Do you know how many people are here? [Getting an approximation on the population might help out.]

[And Steve looks surprised again. Well, he's apparently on another planet and he has no reason to doubt Danny anyway.] I ah, didn't know that ghosts could glow. [He doesn't want to ask any personal details though, like how Danny died... which he assumes what happened.]

Ir changes every week, so it's tough to keep an exact count. But I'd guess there must be close to a hundred of us.

[Danny shrugs. He wasn't really opposed to admitting what he was anymore, but he wasn't about to go spreading it around without anyone asking either.] I'm made out of ectoplasm. That's ghost energy, if you didn't know. This stuff. [He holds out one hand and summons a ball of green glowing energy into it.]

The scientists bring people here every week then?

[Steve nods, not quite understanding the whole mechanics of ghost energy, but he still listens.] Can you go through walls as well?

Almost every week, for as long as I've been here. But sometimes they send people back home too.

[Danny shrugs as he reabsorbs the energy.]

Easily. All ghosts can do that.

The scientists release their prisoners? [It's a bit odd to say the least.]

Are there other ghosts in Discedo?

I'm guessing it's more that they get bored of is. This is a experiment to them, after all.

A few, but no others like me. Actually, all the ghosts I've seen here are kind of weak.

It sounds like that they're still abusing their power. That needs to stop.

Do they... need to find peace? So that they can rest?

Gee, that's an understatement. Abusing power is what scientists do. Well that, and make things explode for no reason.

...What? [Danny was completely confused.] Look, most of the ghosts here? They can't even talk. They're just barely a step up from being protoplasmic blobs. And the ghosts I knew back home? That was the last thing any of them wanted.

Not all of them. [Steve thought about Dr. Erskine. And how he couldn't save him.]

Oh... [He probably still doesn't quite understand everything yet.] Not all of these ghosts were humans?

I've only met two kinds of scientists. The 'lets carry out ethically dubious experiments for the fun of it' type and the 'I wonder what this button does' type.

The ghosts here aren't anything like the ghosts I knew at home. Which, b the way, are technically considered to be odd manifestations of ectoplasmic energy and post-human consciousness. Except I know tons of them who were never human to start with.

Some want to do the right thing because they can.

[He nods after a moment, slowly making sense of Danny's words. He's trying.] What are the ghosts like here?

Like I said, weak. They don't even talk. And most of them never even cause trouble unless you go looking for them.

[He nods.]

[He wasn't planning on staying in one safe area for a long time, but it wouldn't hurt to know.]
