03 [video] I once was lost.

[ When the communicator turns on, you are immediately able to tell that Shizuo is in some kind of distress.

Not because you can see him, all you seem to be looking at is an expanse of sky and a few blond hairs like he's laying next to the device. The hoarse breathing and disoriented muttering is a dead giveaway though and he doesn't look like he's ready to walk around for a while yet. This might be because he's trying to sort out what happened in his head, but frustrated groaning signifies he hasn't had much luck.

A seagull circles him, perhaps a hint to where he is. Near water of some sort, the lapping of waves against something is making a noticeable sound in the receiver. The shoulder of a crumpled white shirt comes into view finally, his face following suit. He decided to sit up after all. ]

... I need... [ He closes his eyes and rubs at one of them tiredly; his voice is husky, he's pale, shaking, sweating, his hair is in complete disarray and there seems to be dried blood on his collar. ] I need help. Don't know what happened...

[ Shizuo never asks for help, but this time seems different. ] Don't know where I am. Don't know how I got here. I was... where was I... I can't feel anything.

[ With that he lays back down, slowly but surely, to wait for a reply. ]

[ Shizuo has gotten his chip removed anonymously! He's experiencing the removal sickness and his abilities, if angered, will go haywire, but other than that there are no other symptoms present. He just doesn't know where the fuck he is, but he hasn't looked at his map.

Edit: Gin found him! Everything but action is welcomed so hard. ]

Ah... yeah, if you wanted... [ He averts his eyes. No one but his brother and one friend would visit him when he was hospitalized. ]

It might be just... a checkup or somethin'. [ He tries to placate her. ] But you're not. [ A pause. ] Afraid of me...?

N-no, why would I be? You're hurt, I just want to help! [He looks a huge mess, but Taiwan really doesn't mind that; she's seen worse, sadly...]

[ He thinks on her question a moment, then decides he doesn't want her to see the monster he really is. Shizuo gives her a warm look, wiping at his brow. ]

I'm alright... [ He takes a breath and huffs. ] But visitors are nice, I think...

I-i can meet you there, do you have someone to take you...? [Gosh Taiwan, eager much? Let him recover a little, at least...]

Ah, yeah... Gin, he's takin' me... [ He nods a little, parts of his blond bangs sticking to his forehead. ] You take your time, no need to rush on my part...

I dunno if I'll be in there a while or what, but I could always tell you when it's okay... I don't want to- [ He cuts himself off because "I don't want to hurt you" is a little too much for him. ]

You don't want to...? [She has no idea how he wants to end that statement, and it confuses and upsets her, for all that she tries not to let it show.]

I don't want to... hurt you accidentally... I don't know how well I can deal with this...

E-eh...? Deal with what? Having your chip out? But weird things happen with that all the time, I'm used to it... [She's kind of wilting inside; it sounds like he really doesn't want to see her.]

[ Oh gosh, Taiwan, you're so cute. ] I told you I was strong, right...? [ He clears his throat, voice raspy. ] I had some trouble before comin' here...

Keepin' a lid on it was tough... but now it's gonna be even worse. I'm not sure I can deal with the power. [ He does not mean to avoid her! ]

Because of the chip being gone, you mean...? [She's still not entirely sure what he means, but at least he's probably not just avoiding her.]

Yeah... well, I think it's makin' my curse go haywire. [ He would never! ]

W-what? Your curse? [Say what?]

Ah, I mean- my abilities. My strength. It's not... a curse... I mean, it could be viewed as one...

O-oh! Oh good, I mean...I guess...I'm just glad it's not because an evil witch cursed you...

Good? [ Her face is priceless, her words more so. Despite his condition, his lips twitch and he sniffs in amusement. ]

Witches can't get the best of me... [ He coughs lightly, touching his throat as an afterthought. ] It's a natural problem I developed one day.

...that sounds like you got sick...

Yeah. It just happened all of a sudden. I got mad at my little brother when he took my pudding. So I picked up the refrigerator. Just like that.

You should tell me about yourself instead. [ Smooth. ] Your childhood and things. I'd like to know...

R-really? That sounds so cool though! I guess because it was a surprise...is it very hard to control?

[His childhood sounds a lot more interesting than hers...]

Umm... [sheepish laugh] It was okay, I guess? I mean, I was by myself for a lot of the time. I spent a lot of time out of doors. It got really interesting when people came to visit, like Portugal and Spain...

Ah, I dropped it, 'cause I broke somethin'. My body was weak back then... [ He thinks hard on this, lips a tight line as he breathes deeply through his nose. ] It's. Sometimes. When I get real angry at something. Someone.

[ He listens to her intently, though; alone a lot of the time... they had that in common. ] I was too. Now there are tons of people to talk to. Some of them I could pass on... [ He grumbles. ] Spain and Portugal. Are they related to you too?

O-oh, I see... [She can see why he's concerned now - she throws temper tantrums sometimes (justified ones!) and she still regrets some of them, the things she says and does.] That must have been a really big change.

Y-yeah, it's like that for me too! [She's pretty back and forth on the matter of talking to people in the family as a general rule.] Um...well, they're not really related - it's hard to get really close to them when they're so far away. They would only stop by to visit, or try to colonize me. [Making a face] And then they'd just wander off again.

It was... it's a lot better. But now that the chip's out, I feel I've lost all that progress. [ He shrugs.

Colonize her? Why did that make him irritated? It was hard to understand country lingo... ] What? That's not a proper way to greet relatives. They sound like idiots, idiots ignore people like you.

I guess in that way the chip could be a good thing but... maybe you'll learn to control things better here? [Trying to stay optimistic!]

Well... [A little self-conscious] They were all trying to build empires then, and I guess they had a lot on their mind... I think it's probably better it turned out this way...

Yeah, hopefully... I want to get stronger. So I can. [ He nods. ]

They're still stupid for leavin' you there alone. No one should have to be alone, I think. [ He raises a brow, though. ] Better this way? You mean gettin' tossed in this place?

I know you can! [Your cheering squad, Shizuo...]

Well um... You know how sometimes countries...take over other ones?

[ Oh gosh, he's so flattered it's absurd. ] Ah, thanks...
