[Coming from China's comm today is a series of random notes from his bamboo flute. Doesn't sound like the usual expertise he displays. What about the whole "changing color phenomenon"? Well, he's already had his freak out, so now he's feeling slightly better. Then... you may or may not hear the sound of him taking in a big breath before--]

[The flute makes a very high pitch cry as China blows all his air into the instrument. Then, again, comes the--]

[He keeps doing it. Taking a deep breath. Blowing with all his might into the instrument. Hopefully no one becomes deaf because of him.]

[SHE IS NOT LAUGHING] Um. What year is it?

220, the states are still fighting each other despite all the years that have gone by...

[He droops.] I am tired. I wish everyone would get along. We are the same people, I can feel it. I do not want to fight, but what choice do I have.

[He sniffles a bit.]

[Ouch. That strikes a chord, but she just reaches out, carefully tugging him close so he doesn't spill his tea] It'll get better you know.

But what about the oracle? What she said about me?

The...oracle...?

[He nods.]

Recently, the elders took me to the oracle to ask about my--or rather--our future, the country's future.

She said I would rise and fall many times, but I would never be completely destroyed. Also, she said that I would suffer a lot. [He begins to shake.] And that people I loved would be part of the suffering.

[He sniffles again.] I-I don't want to...

[She offers him a handkerchief, tugging him up onto her lap, trying to settle him comfortably] Unfortunately that's part of growing up. And for what it's worth... [She looks pensive for a moment, as if determining how much would be wise to say] You...do pretty well for yourself.

[He snuggles against her before looking up at her with glassy eyes.]

Jiě Jie, can you see into the future too? Everyone who can speak my language seems to have that ability.

N-no, I can't see into the future... [Gently brushing his hair back, half smiling]

Then how do you know all these things?

[Umm...] W-would it help if I told you it would all make sense when you got older...?

[He pouts a bit.]

I suppose...

[She sighs, but has to smile at the adorable face he's making] Yeah, I hated hearing that too...

[She wants to pinch his cheeks, aaah...]

Did your big sister tell you that too then?

Both my big brother and my big sister would tell me that...

It must be nice to have them too, though. At least you are not alone and you have someone to support you.

Everyone looks to me for support, I have yet to see the situation turned around.

[Having the weight of a whole nation on one's shoulders was more pressure than a child could bear.]

Y-yeah, I guess that's a good way to put it! And besides, as you grow older, you can meet new people and they can become your support too!

[Trying...to stay optimistic...]

[Oh, look, he's perking up! He says with the painfully honesty and innocence of a child:]

[She just ruffles his hair, messing it up] That sounds like a wonderful goal.

[He leans into her touch smiling up at her.]

[Tugs him close and kisses the top of his head, resting her cheek against his hair momentarily] I know you will.

[His smile gros and he places his cup down on the nearby low table before wrapping his arms around her neck.]

[She hugs him back, holding him loosely enough that he won't feel uncomfortable, but still secure. She whispers, half nervously, in a soft voice:] 我非常愛你，大哥哥。

Eh? Big brother? Do I remind you of your big brother?

[small>He looks up at her with his big brown eyes.]
