[There's a snort and laughter from the other voice, and even without seeing it's pretty obvious someone is rolling their eyes.]

[There's a rustle of fabric. Dave had plopped down next to John, even if you can't see it.] What are you doing?

[There's more rustling as John fiddles with the functions, turning the communicator over in his hand.] Whoa! I think this thing is on.

Oh my god. You didn't get to see Karkat freak out. It was like the most embarrassing thing. You literally nailed him in the face and he had some major mental breakdown and everything.

Oh shit really? Ok. That's cool I guess. Ask someone where we are. Also if they have a can opener.

((UGH.)) Yeah, pretty much, and you can thank the scientists for all of it. I just don't get it. Everything here is a disaster, yet they have the power to, well, bring us all here, and then give us nothing to work with.

I guess it was worse when I arrived here, but even with all the trees and pants growing its dangerous.

Yeah, it seems kinda crappy to kidnap people and put them in a place that is destroyed. But I guess kidnappers aren't really known for being thoughtful, so maybe that is why?

Has anyone ever met them?

Kind of? There was one, I never talked to him, who got on the network making sure we were alright and had all the right medicine at the hospital. That's the first I've ever heard one of them talk, I think.

Did anyone ask them about why they brought a bunch of people here? That seems like a pretty important question to ask a kidnapper.

We are in a park, and I think there is a cemetery across the street. But someone said they were coming to pick us up.

Okay that's good. It's the residential district so there's usually less monsters there. There are some here that are pretty sly so you have to watch out.

Dave and I are kinda used to monsters by now, but we'll be careful.

Uh... you know, actually! once you're all settled in I can probably show you some stuff that might give you an idea of what might have happened here. There's a museum, and a while ago we found some treasure that's kind of cool.

Oh! Alright, that sounds like a good idea and also kinda fun! I have a friend who likes treasure a lot, I bet if she was here she would be all over that.

I don't think so? Could be different at Marshal, but as far as I know, there isn't any currency around here.

Yeah, sort of. The scientists restock non-perishable stuff, but if you want actual fresh food you'll have to get it yourself. It's not so bad if you know how to, er... gut an animal. ((She learned it, it's still not fun.))
