[She's new, obviously, and looking a little distressed as she tries to figure out the communicator well enough to make some use of it. Sitting down by the shipyard, her blonde hair is tied back in a messy ponytail, trying to keep it from getting in her face as she tries to figure out what's going on here.]

Excuse me... [A good start, right? Polite.] I'm a recent arrival to this place and would appreciate any information I could be given on it. It's not quite right for anywhere I know of home.

[It's short, but effective, she hopes. Canada then more or less repeats herself in French, then German and Russian and Japanese, the first languages that come to mind for good international communications.

But just to be safe, she tries text, too:]

Information and/or assistance in returning home would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'll be right there! ... Don't talk to any strange men in the mean time! [What is her baby talking about taking care of herself- Well, okay, out of the whole empire, Canada is the one she'd count on to do that the most but still...]


... Especially if there's anything strange about their eyebrows. You'll understand if you see him.

[mounties]

[None of this makes any sense, but Canada nods anyway.]

Yes, okay. I'll be here.

[hullonurse]

Good girl. [Turning off her communicator to run down to the docks.]

[mounties]

[Canada will just be sitting there in her skirt and hoodie, indeed like a good girl, although she may just be talking to people on her gadget-thingy while she waits. When England shows up, though, she stands and pockets the device.]

There you are!

[hullonurse]

[Pauses a few steps away from her.] Yes... Are you all right, dear?

[mounties]

Yes. [Nodding.] A little confused, but I'm fine.

[hullonurse]

[Sighs.] Fair enough. Though I'd say you could be forgiven for being more than a little confused, dear.

But first things first. What year is it?

[mounties]

What year? 1985.

[hullonurse]

Hmm. [Not happy about that, obviously.] Well, regardless, you've been kidnapped to another world and not a very nice one. Any questions?

[mounties]

I've been told there are monsters; what sort are there? [She only pauses a moment before running off her other questions, too.]

What year are you from? Is there anyone else we know here? What exactly are we expected to do here? And, oh! Do you think Kumarie's been kidnapped, too?

[hullonurse]

Calm down, dear, one at a time. There are various creatures, some more abnormal than others but most dangerous. Nothing you won't be able to handle so long as we get you armed and you're sensible. We're the only two from our world here at the moment, but... Well, I'll have to explain that in a bit more detail. As far as I know we've been told to rebuild here, but mostly it's just "survive".

I haven't seen your bear, but I suppose it's possible. [England, you skipped one...]

[mounties]

[Nodding, she carefully notes each of those answers in her head. Honestly, she's not sure if she'd rather Kumarie was here or not. Companionship would be nice, of course, and Kumarie was sometimes awful at acquiring her own food, but she was a bear, and it was more than a little weird here.]

And your year?

[hullonurse]

We should get back to the flat and I'll put the kettle on, you're bound to need a cup of tea after all this. [ENGLAND]

[mounties]

That does sound nice...

We can talk there, then. [Don't you dare think she's going to let it go, now that she's suspicious about it.]

[hullonurse]

Of course, dear. Just follow me.

[mounties]

[Canada just nods, and she'll follow along behind England like an obedient little thing, never mind that she's been taller than the isle nation for ages.]

[hullonurse]

[Everyone is taller than her, she's given up caring. But yes, England leads Canada in the direction of the Marshall apartments.]

[mounties]

... Have you been here for long?

[hullonurse]

A few months, more than long enough. You'll find that time is a little inside out here, nothing passes back home while we're here so no one is missed and people can arrive from different points in time.

[mounties]

That's why you asked me what year it was, then. Are you from earlier than I am?

[hullonurse]

Not important. [In other words, yes. But while England knows vaguely what happens over the course of the century, she doesn't quite like admitting to not knowing anything. Or being "behind".]

[mounties]

[Canada just nods, understanding that, at least to some extent.]

And you're sure that things will be alright at home?

[hullonurse]

I returned once for a few years and it was as though no time had passed at all until I got back. No one had noticed I'd been gone and I hadn't missed anything. So yes, it should be all right for the time being.

[mounties]

Ah. At least Kumarie shouldn't starve, then...
