[ Hello, Discedians. It's been far too long since we had Drawing Adventures with Hong Kong, hasn't it? Since we're overdue for more, here we go. This time, it's a special occasion!

Okay, it's a little past due, but Hong Kong had a few other things on his mind when this was relevant. So now you get to go on a lovely adventure with him.

And… if you're a young'n, you might want to look away. Pretend this is a picture of bunnies and butterflies frolicking through a field of pretty flowers!

What it actually is, is some slightly questionable artwork of… England.

Yeah, Hong Kong is that shameless. He already got Japan, so his not-dad is apparently next on The List.

The first of these is a lovely and mostly subtle image of England with Portugal. Well, you'd only know that if you know Portugal, because most of the features are obscured, except for one or two key ones. C'mon, there's so much… UST.

No, there's no UST like the next drawing. The two kings of UST, no matter what France says about America. This is the best one, because it has the most attention to detail (and is probably the most explicit, since France would surely like that). Following that is one of England with Spain, though this one is again a little sketchy. Hong Kong doesn't really hang out with Spain a lot.

Or ever, really.

There's a definite pause here, like he's trying to decide what next. Oh, how about lady France? She was pretty cool. He considers lady England, but first, that's almost too much, and second, she'd probably find a way to kill him dead. Sorry dad, he's way more afraid of her. :'| ]

[Laughs.] Does that mean there is?

Of course there is. Don't let him tell you otherwise either.

I believe you, eh. Countries in my world always try to pull that too and insist no pirates ever came from their country.

[bauhinia]

Man, I love my pirate stories. I've got no idea why you'd wanna deny that kinda thing.

[fierybluebird]

Responsibility I suppose. Maybe they feel they'll have to pay for damages.

[bauhinia]

There are people who are way worse than pirates.

[fierybluebird]

Oh, I don't know about that.

I do. Politicians.

[fierybluebird]

[Laughs.] All right, I can't disagree with you on that one.

[bauhinia]

[ Nods sagely. ] Because it's true. I bet it's true no matter what world you're from.

[fierybluebird]

Most likely. I don't even know how politicians in your world are, but I'm betting it's true.

If you're agreeing with me, then they're most likely the same in both, let's just put it that way.

I thought your world didn't have any legal slavery though?

Legal or not, things happen, don't they?

So your politicians engage in that sort of thing too?

[bauhinia]

Letting it happen's just as bad in my book. I can't say anything other than that. [ He puts a hand over his mouth. ]

Letting it happen is one thing. Buying them for the novelty of how they're a special class who get torture other people and therefore feel above them is quite another.

[bauhinia]

[ Okay, removing his hand. ] Yeah, that's awful. I've just always thought that the people who have the power to stop things and don't are the ones who're really abusing it. Like, really, when you think about it, they have power over people who're powerless, sure. But it's gotta be an even bigger trip to them, knowing they have control over people who already control others.

[ Breathe, Hong Kong, breathe.

Yeah, that was a lot of talking. ]

Exactly.

It's one thing to have power and do nothing. Sometimes it's not really clear whether you should throw your strength into a mix or where or how. Owning slaves is purposely controlling someone else's life for the sake of it.

[bauhinia]

[ He nods slowly. ] Yeah. It's hard to even think about it. I mean, sorry, I'm just not too clear-headed on the subject, y'know?

Yeah, sorry. Understood, eh.

[bauhinia]

It's fine, seriously. [ He looks a little unnerved, like he realizes he got a bit too dark there or something. ]
