discedo | [Action/Video] 001

[If anyone was walking around Discedo, you'll probably spot a soldier standing against a building. That wouldn't be too unusual of a sight, except that this soldier had a giant red, white, and blue shield strapped to his back. He also didn't seem to be bothered by the rain, but he was also wearing a blue helmet with a giant A in the middle of it.

Anyway, there was a small frown on his face as he worked the communicator in his hands, obviously not used to this kind of technology. However, he'll get at least the basic video function working in a few minutes.]

Is... is this working? [Steve looked at the video feed with a somewhat confused expression. He was uncertain about using this thing in the first place, but with his enhanced abilities suddenly disappearing and the thought of the serum only being temporary because of that, he decided to use it. Besides, he wanted to find Bucky and the others as fast as possible. Sneaking around in this place didn't really get him anywhere.]

This is... Captain America. [He seemed a little awkward admitting that.] Does anyone the coordinates of our current location? Or a brief description will help as well.

Hello! {Have a smiling man on your comm, Steve.}

[Steve blinks, a little surprised at the man waving at him. However, he quickly answers back.]

Hello. [And he gives a small wave back.]

Are you new here? You look a bit lost.

Yes, I've just arrived today. [Oh, it was pretty obvious that he was lost, huh? It probably didn't help that it took him a few minutes to work this communication device.]

But everyone has been helpful so far.

Wonderful! Well, not wonderful that you're here, I mean, because this place isn't all the wonderful, bit boring, actually, but wonderful that you've gotten help! Everyone I've met so far has been absolutely lovely.

[Steve agrees with his general sentiment.] It's good that people are still helping each other even in a place like this.

What groups have people formed here? [He assumes that people have banded together in some way.]

Well, I believe there's some sort of police force running around, but I don't really know too much about that. And I know there's a soup kitchen in the next town over, if you feel like taking the underground.

Oh! I'm the Doctor, by the way. {He grins.}

[Oh, a police force and a soup kitchen? Well, that helps. Steve was familiar with soup kitchens, especially when the Great Depression hit the United States.]

What towns are close by? [Maybe he can help out too, especially if they need it.]

[Steve returns the grin with a smile.] It's a pleasure to meet you, sir.

Well, from the looks of things, you're in Discedo, which is the main city. And there's Dissimulo, which is a very small town. Looks like there used to be a lot of farms. Across the lake is Spero, but I wouldn't advise going there. Went there once, didn't quite fancy it, gave off an odd vibe.

Sir! Oh, well, no one's called me 'sir' in quite a while. {He laughs.}

Spero. [If something is odd about it, then that's a great place to start looking around. Yep, using complete logic now.] Is there a way to get there?

[He blinks.] Is 'sir' alright to you?

Of course there is! I didn't just swim there, you know. {No he's not trying to not tell you how to get there that's crazy.}

Oh, it's fine, if that's what you want to call me, I suppose. Most people just call me the Doctor, though.

How did you get there?

[He smiles again.] Call me Steve then.

I took the underground, but I really wouldn't recommend going there. At least not by yourself.

Steve! I used to know a Steve, good chap, very skittish. Nice to meet you, Steve! {He smiles back.}

The underground? Like a subway? [There's quite a few stations in Brooklyn.]

Thanks, it's nice to meet you too, Doctor. [He already said so earlier, but it never hurt to say it again.]

Subway, yes! Sorry, not really used to talking to americans. My friends always like to keep to Europe for some reason...

Nope! Gallifrey. I like Europe, though. I like Earth in general, actually.

I haven't heard of Gallifrey before. [But it's not like he has memorized all the countries on Earth yet.] What is it like?

I like Europe and the Earth too.

I don't imagine you would have, most humans havn't.
It's... um... not there anymore. {He looks upset by this, but just sorta springs right back.}

And rightly so! For all the places I've been, I'm fairly certain Earth is one of my favorites.

You're not human yourself? [Steve notices his upset expression, slowly understanding what the Doctor is getting at. He wish that he was there in person instead of talking through this device.] I'm sorry. [It didn't feel enough, but he didn't want to push the topic. After all, he just met the Doctor.]

Ah, it's... quite alright. It's been a while.

But no, to answer your question, I'm not human. I'm a Time Lord.

...How long? If you don't mind me asking.

[He really has encountered many different people here.] You can control time?

Oh, a while... hard to keep track when you have a non-linear time stream, you see.
I can't really control time, no, though I can change it, with some effort. Do something in the past that effects the future and all that. More of a time-traveler, but my TARDIS isn't here, so I've been stuck here for four months. Four months, can you believe that? Quite boring, if you ask me.

[Steve probably gets this really blank look as the Doctor continued on. Okay, stuck here for four months. He understood that.]

We'll find a way back, Doctor.

Oh, I know! I've been working at it, and now that River's here we'll be out of here twice as quick!
