[At the front door of house number 1118 in Dissimulo, Gellert is leaning against the frame and watching the street and any people wandering by. He also checks his communicator with interest, noticing many new faces. He muses aloud to himself but can certainly be overheard.]

Does a storm destroy all the world at once?

[wandthief]

Not usually.

[chibifirebird]

Not usually? [Laughs.] What kind of storms have you seen?

[wandthief]

Some can raze an entire forest to the ground.

[chibifirebird]

Still doesn't destroy the whole world. And you can still have a fire without letting it burn down a whole island.

[wandthief]

You father must be very powerful.

[chibifirebird]

Yes! He's the strongest man in the world, yoi.

[wandthief]

Yet he's lost track of you.

[chibifirebird]

[Laughs.] I can take care of myself. I wouldn't be his number one otherwise, yoi!

Besides, we'll fine each other when necessary. New islands always get explored like this. Though it's weird not seeing all my brothers around, I guess they're busy.

How old are you?

[chibifirebird]

I can't tell! It's a secret.

[wandthief]

I don't like secrets.

[chibifirebird]

Sorry. You wouldn't believe me even if I could tell you.

[wandthief]

I might. I've known some strange things.

[chibifirebird]

Okay! It's a riddle! Which came first the flame or the phoenix?

[wandthief]

That is an endless circle so neither can come first.

[chibifirebird]

There you go! [Laughs.] You got that easier than I thought.

[wandthief]

A riddle is a trick question.

Are you saying that you have no beginning? That you are in some way eternal?

[chibifirebird]

I can't say. Maybe! If you ask a circle where it begins, what does it say? If the circle is in the middle of rolling down a hill, that's even more confusing, isn't it? Because even if it knows it started at the "top" it doesn't know where it was then or which side was up, and it doesn't know when it'll stop or which side will be the end because there were too many turns.

I'm older than my brothers, older than the riddle, yoi! But I'm younger than I am when I'm taller and young enough that a lot of things are still new! It's something in between that.

Oh, but it's more complicated than that because I didn't always used to be this way, but maybe I was always supposed to be because it's cyclical. Mysterious, right? Maybe when I'm older I'll know how the true answer. Unless it starts all over again.

[wandthief]

Your existance sounds very complicated...

[chibifirebird]

That's the funny part, yoi.

It's not. It's really simple on its own. But explaining it to anyone else seems an impossible task. I haven't mastered that yet. It's like a circle rolling down a hill, I know where I'm going and what I'm doing but I don't know all of how it started, or how it will end, or how to quantify it at all! Just what's happening, but that part is all simple!

For instance right now, I'm here in a place called Discedo talking to you and meeting more people and getting food! And all that makes me really happy, yoi! Pretty simple things, don't you think?

[wandthief]

It is good to be pleased by the simple things.

So can you create earthquakes too?

[chibifirebird]

[Laughs.] No! Only Pops can do that. He's the only one in the world who can, yoi!

But I have something he doesn't, so it's fine. We have different things and then work them together so we're extra strong together!
