"It's strange."
Kain leans back in her chair. The animals are all over, they're getting into everything and making a real big mess. But that's not her responsibility surely. So instead she tosses an apple up and catches it in her opposite hand before taking a bite.
"I didn't bring those dementors here. And if it wasn't Jacqueline or the Professor..."
Well. Their suspects are a lot more narrowed. And it hadn't been Jay that's damn sure...

There's a groan and a yell of sorts as he shoves someones dog off of him, scrambling away from the group finally. "Why did it have to be pets?!"
But then he pauses, sighs, and looks back to Kain. "It looked a little familiar but there was no way it was any of us. The style was too distinct." He frowns, quite confident in his own words. And with the look he's giving Kain, they're implying a lot more than he's willing to let on so loudly.

"No. It can't be."
In a rather uncharacteristic display she tosses her apple across the room. A goat immediately begins snacking on it, but she doesn't care.
"He left us!"

He practically hisses that, ignoring the cat rolling at his feet to raise his hands defensively in Kain's direction. "I-it's not, I mean y'know, I guess it could be something else..." He's apologetic, almost, though he lifts a hand to scratch nervously at the side of his head.
A hesitant and dry laugh comes out first. "But that execution was really..."

Jay always was one to make a loud entrance. The look on his face is clearly laced with irritation, though he does his best to pull a grin, spreading his arms as usual. Even most of the animals seem to realize something is off, shuffling out of his way as he moves to the center of the room.
"Now, now, Kevin... Don't tell me you've been spreading rumors." A short laugh. "You know that can tear the whole cast apart come the big day." That smile is even more clearly not quite right now as he lowers his arms, staring between the two.
"We're not having any problems... are we?"
no subject
"Jay! N-no. We're just. Messing with everyone a bit."
A vague flap of her hand at the animals. Nothing wrong... Crap.

"J-just-- it's-- ...Nothing." He stares fixedly at the grouping of animals.

His expression falters a moment at that before he places his hands on his hips, shaking his head and staring at the ground. There's a laugh. Soft at first, then louder, and as he raises his head, it stops.
"Gossip," he practically spits that word, "Is of no help to this team. You're causing a panic over nothing!" A nearby chair gets the brunt of that anger as he sends it toppling over. He doesn't even worry about the animals scattering out of the way, pointing at Kevin, and then Kain, and then back on Kevin. "This stops now, you hear me?"
And as that settles in, he lowers his hand with an all too calm smile. "I'll show you who the director of this play is. No... small glitch or coincidence is going to stop that! You get it? We're in charge here!"
One more glance between them. "So you two keep up your fun here and I'll start the next Act." He doesn't even wait to turn on his heels and head for the door to exit.
