[Luffy's voice comes on not too long after docking back in Discedo, but his usual enthusiasm is definitely not there. His voice is a bit serious, yet with a tang of guilt in there.]

Hey everyone, it's Luffy. I'm just checking in to see that you guys got the medical attention or rest you need. [He'll rest in his own room soon. He's silent for a bit longer, and then begins to speak again.]

And... I'm sorry I couldn't keep us all safe. I'll try harder next time, I promise--! [It's hard to tell if he's reassuring himself or the others. But his voice cracks slightly, and he just has one last thing to say.]

I'm... really, really sorry for the people who died.

[And now he's going to just go to his apartment and stay there for a while.]

... are you doing okay? [Because shit man, he thinks you must be doing terribly after... yeah.]

[Marco doesn't really have words. He's not much in the mood for talking. Just comes to find Luffy and give him another phoenix hug. He also brought soup. If that's some kind of answer.]

[Well, you found him in his apartment laying on his bed with, holding onto Ace's hat over the edge of the bed. He sits up to hug him back, but pushes the soup away.]

Not hungry. You eat. [You know it's terrible when he won't eat and barely talks.]

No. Luffy you have to eat something. No one but you holds you responsible for this. You think starving yourself will help them?

[straw_hat]

I'm not starving myself! [His voice cracks again, and he just rests his head on his knees.]

[HUGS. He misses his brothers so much. Every single day. Ace, Haruta, Jozu, all of them.]

I'm not much, but you've got me bro. Don't forget it.

[straw_hat]

[He shakes his head violently, and leans into the hug.]

No. Never gonna forget that. Ever.

Good. Now eat something. You won't feel better if you don't.

[straw_hat]

... okay. [That's the first time he's felt reluctant about eating. He takes the soup, eating it only in small bites and slowly.]

[Relaxes now that Luffy's eating and switches into a phoenix, curling up around Luffy's shoulders on the back of the couch.]

[He eats a little bit more, then sets the bowl down on the table. He leans back against Marco, and lets out a tired sigh. Fuck.

He wants to go home.]

[Hugs more and pets with a wing. He wishes he could help more, but short of finding the devices... besides wasn't that what they were looking for? And look how that turned up. Still, Marco won't get discouraged. Just stay practical.]

[straw_hat]

[He sort of curls up, and hugs his knees tightly and buries his face in them. He... may or may not be trembling a bit from crying.]
