Well, this has a simple solution but people like to make more of it than likely happened.

My parents disappeared when I was very young, you see. People have thought up wild stories to explain it.

Why not a favourite word-riddle of mine; I'm sure someone of your intellect could guess the answer to this one. There are three words in the English language that end in G-R-Y. Two of them are hungry and angry. What is the third word in the English language?

There are only two words in the English language that specifically end with the letters g-r-y. In that order.

Some possible answer include agree and energy.

Agree only works when spoken: There are three words in English that end in gry.

Energy works because the riddle says that the word ends in the letters g-r-y. It says nothing about the order of the letters.

Oh my. Don't tell me your sore because your answer isn't the correct one. If anything, all you did was give me hypothetical theories completely unrelated to the answer.
