Not the same as a hostage... but in oppressive times, there are many who would do anything for their motherland. Would and have died for their motherland. It feels the same.
It seems like a lot of work for something that might not work out when you return home. Everything your eye picks up, their eye would see just as much about you. For every victory, they learn more about you too, don't they?
