Hello, I've been told to use this! I'm fairly certain it's some sort of communication device, although you can never be sure with alien tech, can you? I'm hoping I'm right, because otherwise I'd be talking to myself. Again. {He looks slightly sheepish about the last bit.}

Anyway, I'm looking for my friends, and I'd be really grateful if someone could tell me where they are! I mean, I'm sure they can take care of themselves, but I'd really rather know where they've got to. One has red hair and a temper to match and the other is probably following her like a puppy.

I'm the Doctor, by the way! That's what people call me, anyway. Not really sure why. I call me that too. Still not sure why.

Scientists? What sort of scientists? {He looks delighted.}

Oh, Earth! Good old Earth, I love Earth! What year is it, then?

[ This guy... sure seems happy to be here, huh? It's quite the contrast to Ange's lineface, either way. ] Just scientists. What different kinds are there supposed to be.

And oh, this isn't Earth. I'm from Earth from the year 1998, but this is the planet Fortuna.

Oh, there's all sorts of different scientist! Like the kind that studies monkeys or the kind that studies the fourty rings of the planet Junibi or the kind that studies foreign cultures and people. Bit of a scientist myself, though not as much as I used to be, I'm afraid. {He laughes slightly.} Was just wondering what sort these were. They must be studying something important if they're the last of the native people. I should like to meet them sometime, I think.

Oh, I already knew this wasn't Earth! The atmosphere's all wrong to be Earth, and besides that, I'm almost positive Earth doesn't have two moons.
...Wait. 1998, you said?

.. Yeah, they're studying us to be specific. They pulled us all into this place to observe us and perform all kinds of weird experiments on us for some reason only god knows, probably.

And I said 1998.. why? Is there something special about it?

{...Looks like he finally gets it.}

...So they've kidnapped us, then? From across time and space?

Yeah, that's the main idea behind it. [ she brushes back some of her hair. ]

Everyone here is from some different sort of world, it seems.

...About how many people are here?

I'm not entirely sure.. you'd have to ask someone who keeps better track of that kind of stuff.

A lot, though? Is it a lot of people? Or just a few?

More than a handful, but not enough to actually fill up this city, if that gives any indication.

...So more than a handful of us have been kidnapped, thrown in an decaying city, and left to do... what? {He's getting a bit angry now...}

Who knows. Just sit around for a bit until we're sent away again. That's exactly what these scientists do to us.

[ she just sounds.. a little deadpan about it, mostly - but she doesn't enjoy it either. ]

...What am I supposed to do now, then?

How about fight the scientists? [ shrug. ] We've been trying to find a way home for ages now, but it seems it's all just useless.

...I'll find us all a way home. Don't give up so easily. {He smiles.}

You sure seem confident about all this.. Even though nobody found a way out during all this time, you think you can do it?

Well, I'm the Doctor. I've saved so many people.
I'm not about to stop now.

Doctor or not, I bet all of this is much different than anything you're used to.

Oh, not really! I've been in much worse situations before! At least right now there's no threat to life and limb!

... Ah, wait. I guess I should mention too that there's monsters here. [ Ange, don't you have your priorities straight.. ]

...There are many different sorts of monsters. Perhaps you could be a bit more specific?

Well, there's a lot of different kinds here too. Some more ferocious than others, which are just more.. cuddly, if you're into that sort of thing.

Ah, so you mean monsters of the 'attacking wild things' variety. Right. Should probably get inside then...

Yeah, that sounds like a good general summary. Let's say it's the kind you usually want to stay away from if you want to keep all your limbs.
